Revered for offering some of the best waves in Europe, Portugal is home to one of three surfing reserves in the entire world, demonstrating the value this surfing nation puts on their natural treasures: beautiful beaches and perfect waves. At Guincho Beach, large and heavy North Atlantic swells meet strong side-onshore winds, making it a prime kite surfing destination and an ideal proving ground for the KSP’s first competition of the year. The powerful break at Guincho and its consistent winds create the ultimate playground for the aerial new school aspect of kite surfing.

“This season we have a staggering talent pool of riders from 18 nations and they’ve all trained hard to get here,” says KSP president, Kristin Boese. “This is going to be a nail-biting, epic battle in an ideal and challenging location. It’s anyone’s guess who will clinch the winner’s check atop the podium when all is said and done at the Cascais Kite Surf Pro.”

The City of Cascais, one of the event’s primary partners, welcomes KSP fans, officials and riders to explore its beautiful coastline. Hotel partner, Muchaxo, located directly above the event site, invites vacationers, KSP enthusiasts and kite borders to enjoy their panoramic views of the entire Guincho Beach, the spectacular cliffs and pristine Portuguese coastline. “KSP really appreciates the support of the City of Cascais and Hotel Muchaxo for hosting the first tour event of the year and helping to make it all possible,” says Boese.

As the event’s industry partner, Best Kiteboarding also comes on board in full support of this world-class competition. Robert Bratz, Best Kiteboarding Marketing Manager says: “The Best Kiteboarding team is more than happy to support the first KSP stop at its home and development Spot in Gunicho / West Portugal. We are looking forward to an event full of rock and roll conditions and we are proud to welcome the best kites surfers in the world.”

The KSP also welcomes Ozone Kitesurf on board as the latest addition to the growing list of industry members. Ozone joins six existing KSP industry members, showing its support for the vision and goals of the KSP World Championship Tour.

For those who can’t be at the Cascais Kite Surf Pro Competition in person, KSP will be offering a live webcast to capture all the action and excitement as it happens, which can be seen at: www.KSPWorldTour.com/live.
