KSP One Eye Kite Surf Pro Gearing Up for 2012 Start

We’ve been looking forward to the 2012 KSP One Eye Kite Surf Pro pretty much ever since the hugely successful 2011 showdown came to an end in Mauritius last year. As the first event ever on the KSP World Pro Tour, it most definitely set the bar incredibly high as far as wave riding competitions go.

If you aren’t sure what we’re talking about, or you happened to miss last year’s event at One Eye in Le Morne, Mauritius, take a look at our day by day account of the competition, as it unfolded.

Now, stop number two of this year’s KSP season will take the tour back to the location of last year’s most talked about event. From September 7 to 16, 2012 the world’s best kitesurfers will gather once again at the foot of the Le Morne Mountain in the pristine southwest corner of Mauritius Island.

In the wake of last year’s mind-blowing conditions and performances, the 2012 One Eye Kitesurf Pro is immensely anticipated by riders, organizers, sponsors and the media alike. The long, barrelling, left-hand reef break at One Eye, featuring side-offshore winds and near-perfect, head-high to quadruple-overhead high surf, is already warming up for the event by delivering large surf over the past week for riders already on location to train.

KSP vice-president Sky Solbach says:

“The One Eye event is quite simply one of the most anticipated events on tour. Last year’s crazy conditions turned a lot of heads and we’re all really looking forward to see what One Eye will dish up this time around. With the southern hemisphere swell season kicking into high gear, we are optimistic about the prospect of great conditions during the ten day holding period.”

While local organizer Benjamin Boldton of Swell & Events has the following to say:

“We are proud to be able to bring the event back to One Eye. With last year’s event, Mauritius has truly been put on the kite surf map and it has now the opportunity to further its reputation and establish itself next to other well-known kitesurf destinations around the world.”

The KSP and Swell & Events are proud to announced their sponsors and local partners for the Mauritius One Eye Pro 2012, which include the MTPA, North Kiteboarding, ION, St. Regis, Emtel, Monster, Adamas, Club Mistral, Le Gall, Enzo, AFIX, Habit, Silent Partners as well as media partners Radio One, L’ Express and Equipe.

The KSP is honoured to be working with such a prestigious list of sponsors and partners as well as great local organization and is looking forward to another electrifying Mauritius One Eye Kite Surf Pro event.
